You Asked For It, You Got It - AELMT Returns to Hartford

Lake Odessa, MI (Wednesday, June 19, 2019) - The American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) is getting ready to do battle in the second doubleheader weekend of the season, this Friday and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Friday, the wait is over, AELMT returns to Hartford Speedway for the first time since 2016 before traveling to Muskegon’s Thunderbird Raceway for the rescheduled Allstar Performance 40 on Saturday.

Friday’s action is drawing excitement, as $4,000 awaits the winner at the end of the Michigan Corn 40. This will be the first time competitors will see the reconfigured Hartford Speedway under the AELMT banner. When the Tour last raced at Hartford in 2016, the track was a wicked fast half-mile oval. Billy Moyer Jr. collected the win in June, holding a commanding lead over Dona Marcoullier and Jon Henry. J.R. Hotovy won the Michigan Corn 30 when the Tour returned in July.

Current points leader, Brandon Thirlby comes into the event with two podium finishes in the last two races (Gas City and Merritt) and a 33-point advantage over the Blue Deuce - Travis Stemler. Stemler earned his first career AELMT victory two races ago at Gas City Speedway, and will look to improve from his 13th place finish the last time the AELMT ran at Hartford. Rich Bell sits third in points and proved to be fast on the half-mail configuration. In 2016 Bell won the Motul Motor Oil and Lubricants Fast Qualifier award and went on to score a 6th place finish in the A-Main. Eric Spangler and Logan Arntz are looking for the come-back trail after disappointing finishes at Merritt Speedway on Memorial Day Weekend. Spangler finished second in the Michigan Corn 30 in 2016, Arntz did not compete in the event.

The 2019 running of the Michigan Corn 40 will get started at 4:00pm when Pit Gates open. Hot Laps are set for 6:15pm with Qualifying to follow and the American Ethanol Green Flag waving at 8:00pm. Tickets to be a part of the Late Models return to Hartford are only $16. Kids 11 to 15 years of age are $11 and Kids 10 and under are free. Pit Passes are $20.
