Motor City Racing Promotions Acquires Horsepower Happenings

Hiser & Frantz Host Michigan Motorsports News Podcast on Monday Nights

During the off-season, Motor City Racing Promotions struck a deal with Motorsports Broadcasting of Michigan (MBM) to purchase MBM, its assets and the Horsepower Happenings podcast.

This Monday, listeners will hear a familiar voice behind the mic - Horsepower Happenings original host, Zach Hiser. Hiser, a former public address announcer at Butler Motor Speedway, now, more formally known as the lead broadcaster for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour and American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance, will remain the lead anchor of the Monday evening motorsports podcast available at

Hiser will be joined by his partner on the American Ethanol Tours Circuit and Flat Rock – Toledo Speedways co-announcer, Rich Frantz. Frantz brings years of announcing experience and a thorough pavement racing background to the show.

Horsepower Happenings on the Motor City Racing Network will highlight the week’s top stories in Motorsports, focusing on short track racing stories relevant to the midwestern region. Analysts will breakdown how this news is impactful to you and the industry.

Featured guests will continue to highlight the show. Monday’s debut podcast will feature 2018 Flat Rock Speedway DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A-Main Champion, Grant Hedges, to reflect on a victorious 2018 season to find out what is in store for in 2019.

Motor City Racing Promotions President, Scott Menlen offered his thoughts on the recent acquisition of Horsepower Happenings.

“Zach (Hiser) had developed a great podcast and when the opportunity arose to place Horsepower Happenings under our banner, it was an easy decision for us”, said Menlen. “Our team has been eager to work on this project with Zach and Rich. We know, with collaboration from regional correspondents, they’ll deliver stirring content each week, while positively representing Michigan Motorsports and promoting its participants and events.”

For Hiser, the founder of Motorsports Broadcasting of Michigan and Horsepower Happenings, he is looking forward to the potential that fans have for even better content with Motor City Racing Promotions’ background going forward.

“Scott (Menlen) and I share the same passion… motorsports. We want to produce great content for fans, drivers and everyone in the industry to enjoy.” Hiser finished by saying, “MCRP is a well-supported and recognized company, not only in Michigan but in other parts of the country. Together, I truly think we can bring great content to our fans.”

This season, fans can look for continuous expansion of the media department within MCRP. From higher quality live audio broadcasts on the Motor City Racing Network, to exciting post production video content and news from various motorsports events throughout the region.
