Montpelier Motor Speedway's Actions Detrimental to Auto Racing

American Ethanol Tours Pull all Sanctioned Events from Speedway

Lake Odessa, MI (Friday, June 28, 2019) – The American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods) regret to announce that all American Ethanol Tour sanctioned races at Montpelier Motor Speedway are cancelled. American Ethanol Touring Officials deem Montpelier Motor Speedway Management’s actions detrimental to the sport of auto racing.

AELMT was scheduled to race at Montpelier on Saturday, May 4, 2019 however, the event was postponed until June 1, 2019, due to saturated grounds. The June 1st event was then suspended due to weather and a reschedule date was to be determined. AELMT also had an event scheduled at Montpelier for Saturday, August 17, 2019. All events there are cancelled due to failed payment to American Ethanol Modified Tour following the AEmods event at Montpelier on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

Though Montpelier Motor Speedway has failed to pay the purse, AEmods Officials are processing checks to all thirty-six racers whom competed in the event. Each racer will receive full pay from AEmods.

The agreed upon cost of an AEmods event at Montpelier Motor Speedway is the A-Main purse, plus tow for non-transfer cars. Thirty-Six cars entered the event. Prize money for positions one through 21, plus non-transfer cars and the American Ethanol Performer of the Race Bonus (included in purse), totals $10,200. The AEmods event was completed per rules and regulations set by the Tour and DIRTcar UMP, agreed upon by the racetrack. At the conclusion of the night, as industry standard procedure, Montpelier Motor Speedway was invoiced and expected to pay the full amount of $10,200 - one hundred percent racer purse money. AEmods did not charge Montpelier Motor Speedway a sanctioning fee for the event.

Montpelier Motor Speedway’s promoter refused to pay the invoice on Saturday night, June 8th, citing he was unsatisfied with the event. The Speedway Promoter agreed to meet with American Ethanol Touring Officials via phone conference on Monday for a settlement and arrange payment delivery however, that meeting did not take place. American Ethanol Touring Officials reached out to the Speedway’s promoter and management team on numerous occasions throughout the past few weeks. As of Thursday, June 27, 2019, Montpelier Motor Speedway has continued to refuse to pay the racer’s prize money and has not made arrangement with AEmods to rectify the situation. These actions, considered detrimental to the sport of auto racing, have caused American Ethanol Touring Officials to revoke Montpelier Motor Speedway’s ability to host an AELMT or AEmods event.
