MCRP Safety Team to Service Merritt - Tri-City in 2020

Sterling Heights, MI (Wednesday, January 15, 2020) - Merritt and Tri-City Speedways are taking initiative to raise their motorsport safety and rescue standards through a partnership with Motor City Racing Promotions. All racing events at Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, MI and Merritt Speedway in Lake City, MI will be serviced by the Motor City Racing Promotions Safety Team during the 2020 season.

Top motorsports organizers, rely on the elite team of industry professionals from the MCRP Safety Team. These highly trained men and women are SFI Foundation Inc. certified in Short Track Incident Response and continue to seek education on protecting the drivers they serve. For nearly 10 seasons, the fully equipped MCRP fleet of advanced safety vehicles has serviced events on pavement, dirt, outdoors and indoors while working closely with organizations such as Champion Racing Association, ARCA, Midwest Indoor Racing Series, American Ethanol Late Model Tour and Dixie Motor Speedway; while facilitating special events like the upcoming SpeedFest 2020 at Crisp Motorsports Park in Cordele, Georgia.

The Safety Team is preparing for big events at both Merritt and Tri-City Speedways, including Lane Automotive - Allstar Performance Tri-City/Merritt Speedway Challenge Series Supported by American Ethanol, Great Lakes Super Sprints and DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour. Blackmer has made it publicly known that his tracks showed room for improvement in the safety department. Addressing this head on, he is taking action, combining his top local safety officials with experienced leadership from the MCRP Safety Team.

“I felt it [safety] was something I was really lacking at Merritt Speedway,” Blackmer said. “If something serious was to happen, I wanted to make sure I had it covered. It’s good to know that I’m going to have the same crew at both tracks,” he concluded.
