Sterling Heights, MI (Thursday, March 19, 2020) – Rip it Energy Fuel MARS Racing Series announced in a statement released on Tuesday evening, March 17th, that the 9th Annual Thaw Brawl, originally scheduled for Friday-Saturday March 27-28, 2020 at Lee County Speedway, has been suspended.
Statement from MARS Racing Series -
In response to Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds statement today declaring the gatherings of more than 10 people must be canceled or postponed through March 31st. This has left us no other option but to postpone the 9th annual Thaw Brawl presented by Rip it Energy Fuel Mars Racing Series to a possible later date. Series officials are working closely with the Lee County Speedway and other race tracks that currently hold a series date in hope we can come up with a rescheduled date for this event.
Motor City Racing Promotions’ Officiating Team was set to depart for Lee County Speedway, the company’s first event in the State of Iowa, to officiate the prestigious dirt late model race weekend but the MCRP crew will now wait until the reschedule date is determined.
“Tony Izzo and his team have been working very hard to make this year’s edition of the Thaw Brawl one of the biggest yet”, says MCRP President, Scott Menlen. “Now we will have to wait a little longer for the big race weekend. All of us at Motor City Racing Promotions support MARS organization’s decision to suspend the event in the best interest of the health and wellness of our racing family,” Menlen concluded.
