Heavy Hitters Look Strong in Hoosier Autumn Classic Practice

Plymouth, IN (Thursday, September 26, 2019) – The anticipation for the Hoosier Autumn Classic for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) at the Plymouth Speedway this weekend has reached it pitch. Teams arrived this afternoon and throughout the evening to take part in the optional practice session, prior to this weekend’s events. Several teams took advantage of the track time, including Tyler Erb, Scott James, Jason Feger, AELMT Championship Points Leader Brandon Thirlby, Logan Arntz, and Cody Bauer.

The only driver who was involved in the last AELMT event at the Plymouth Speedway in 2017 was Thirlby, so the track time this evening was invaluable. “We have just about thrown the kitchen sink at it, and nothing changes, but we’ll keep working at it,” commented Thirlby.

Feger arrived late in the practice session, taking his #25 machine out multiple times to test out the Plymouth Speedway surface, never getting out of the racecar for the final hour.

Erb, making his 2nd appearance of 2019 on the American Ethanol Late Model Tour, hopes that this weekend turns out just like his prior appearance back in March, at the LaSalle Speedway. “LaSalle was a great night for us and we were able to pick up the win. Plymouth is one of my favorite tracks,” said Erb. “If we can have the same result, that would be pretty cool, but that’s why we’re here.”

The practice session was completed at 10pm, but tomorrow is when it all counts. Drivers will compete in two 25 Lap Qualifying Features, to set the stage for Saturday’s Hoosier Autumn Classic and its $12,000 payday. The Qualifying Features will each pay $2,500 to win. At the conclusion of Qualifying Feature Number One all lead lap cars will be totally inverted to set the starting lineup for Qualifying Feature Number Two.

On Friday afternoon, the Pit Area Opens at 2:00pm, Grandstands will open at 4:00pm, Hot Laps / Qualifying at 6:30pm, followed by Pre-Race Ceremonies and the race program that features Late Models, Thunder Cars and Compacts.

A free, live audio stream and Live Timing & Scoring of the weekend’s event can be found online at motorcityracing.co/live, or on the Race Monitor Mobile App. A pay-per-view broadcast can be found at speedsport.tv.
