Gallery: MCRP Safety Team at CRA Speedfest 2020

Sterling Heights, MI (Saturday, February 1, 2020) - For the fifth consecutive year, Motor City Racing Promotions’ (MCRP) Safety Team made the nearly 900 mile trip south to Cordele, Georgia’s Crisp Motorsports Park, January 24th & 25th, for Champion Racing Association (CRA) SpeedFest 2020. The annual event featured over 300 laps of racing for Pro and Super Late Models, as well as a contingent of local divisions.

Most of Friday's activities were consumed with track drying. MCRP, CRA and Crisp Motorsports Park service vehicles worked 3 hour shifts, on two separate occasions, drying the Speedway after multiple rain showers. The ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour managed to complete practice but not qualifying. That was pushed to Saturday morning. A portion of the local racing program featuring Outlaws, Trucks, Enduros and Mini Stocks was completed before a medical emergency in the grandstands suspended the balance of the local racing program until Saturday evening.

Teams returned on Saturday to sunshine, and plenty of it, for the running of qualifying and main event racing. MCRP officials were on the clock early, assisting with the grid process pre-qualifying and the staging process post qualifying. The SFI Certified MCRP Safety Team handled a fair amount of calls on Saturday, yet none required medical attention or fire suppression. The crew did tackle a number of visits to the “Watermelon Patch” and the creek, as drivers lost the edge of the racing surface. This did allow for multiple uses of the MCRP designed tow bridal, designated for use on tubular late model chassis.

At race end, it was Stephen Nasse collecting the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour SpeedFest 125 and Corey Heim winning the ARCA/CRA Super Series SpeedFest 200.
