Sterling Heights, MI (Wednesday, January 1, 2020) - With the holiday season upon us, many area race tracks are now releasing their 2020 schedules. On Friday, Flat Rock Speedway announced their full schedule for the upcoming season. The Inaugural Motor City 200 will kick-off the season on Saturday, April 25th. This special event will feature the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, and a Modified invitational. The All-Stars Tour and the Junior Late Models will be making their first ever appearance at the quarter-mile bullring, while the Modifieds will be returning for the first time since 2007. This premier event, promoted by Motor City Racing Promotions, was lost twice in 2019 due to Mother Nature. A Sunday, April 26th rain date has been established. More details will be released as the season nears.
Flat Rock’s weekly classes will kick off their 2020 season the following week on May 2nd, with the Outlaw Super Late Models, Street Stocks, and Figure 8 classes returning. A couple of marquee events on the schedule for the Outlaw Super Late Models will be on May 23rd for the Joy Fair Memorial 100, and on July 18th, the Stan Yee Memorial 150. Both events draw some of the best Outlaw Late Models in the region.
The Street Stocks have a couple of big dates on tap. On July 11th, they will compete in a 50-lap contest as part of the Firecracker 150 and annual Fireworks Show. Then on August 1st, the classes biggest race of the season, the Street Stock 100 that pays a cool $1,000 to win. The Figure 8 class will have 13 events on their schedule, highlighted by the Michigan Figure 8 Championships, as part of the Firecracker 150 program.
Other key events highlighting the 2020 schedule include: The Ross Mortgage 100 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS (June 29th), two popular School Bus Figure 8 events (June 6th and September 5th), and Season Championship Night for the weekly classes on August 22nd.
