Braden to Carry WVU Colors in NASCAR eSports Racing Series

Updated: May 22

Special from Travis Braden Racing - Charlotte, NC – West Virginia University Alumnus and reigning Snowball Derby champion, Travis Braden, will be sporting the Old Gold and Blue on his “virtual” race truck in a new eSports racing series based on the NASCAR Gander Outdoor & RV Truck Series on Thursday, April 16.

Braden, a stock car racing standout and mechanical and aerospace engineering graduate from WVU, has used his time away from real racetracks during the COVID-19 pandemic to compete in the “virtual” world of simulator racing on a wildly popular platform, iRacing.com, along with many of his fellow competitors.

This week, he was invited to compete in a new series titled the “eTruck Series.”  The series will be filled with top drivers from both real-life and sim racing, including headliners like NASCAR’s Hailee Deegan and Harrison Burton, and even NHRA World Champion Ron Capps.

Upon receiving his invitation to the race, Travis decided to have a little fun with his truck’s paint scheme design.

“In a time when all sports are almost completely shut down, and we’re all missing that feeling of pride and excitement that comes with cheering on our teams and players, I figured – why not engage with my fellow mountaineers and bring them something to watch and hopefully brighten their days a bit?” Braden commented.  “A lot of people may remember my WVU paint scheme on my real cars during my years as a student from 2013 to 2016.  We had a ton of fun with that.  It was thrilling to compete representing West Virginia and WVU to the best of my ability.  People were so excited when we would find Victory Lane.  I wanted to bring a little bit of that feeling back during such a difficult time for many of my fellow Mountaineers and West Virginians as a whole.  What better way to do it, I figure, than to accordingly represent my fellow alums!” he added.

Travis will be sporting his WVU Alumni Association NASCAR Truck during Thursday’s race- the RUMBLE at Richmond. The paint scheme was designed by fellow Alumnus, Ethan Ball.

Fans can watch the eTruck Series RUMBLE at Richmond LIVE on, Speed51.com, or on Twitch at Twitch.TV/PodiumEsports.  The action will go Live on Thursday, April 16, at 7:00p ET.

As a proud West Virginia University alum, Travis has continued to represent his home state and alma mater as a top prospect in stock car racing.  He was named to ESPN’s “Ten to Watch” for NASCAR list in 2018 and won the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby, one of the most coveted titles in all of stock car racing, in December 2019.

Travis is available for interviews, Q&As, Live-streams, or any other form of engagement with WVU alumni groups or chapters at request.  For direct contact, email Travis@TravisBraden.com.
