Thaw Brawl is AELMT Highest Paying & Longest Race to Date
Lake Odessa, MI (Friday, March 8, 2019) - An event that has quickly become a Midwest racing staple is coming up in a few short weeks. The 8th Annual Thaw Brawl Presented by Hoker Trucking from LaSalle Speedway is Friday and Saturday, March 29th and 30th. For the first time, the huge two-day event will be sanctioned by the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and will also welcome the American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods), along with IMCA Modifieds and Sport Mods.
For the AELMT, the Thaw Brawl will mark the second ever appearance for the Tour at LaSalle, as it enters its fifth season. Last year, the AELMT made an August trip to the quarter-mile highbanks for the $4,000 to win American Ethanol 40. 2016 Thaw Brawl Champion, Brian Shirley drove his Bob Cullen Motorsports number three to YellowHose.com Victory Lane for his first ever AELMT victory. In 2019, the Thaw Brawl will mark one of three scheduled trips to LaSalle, Illinois.
The 8th Annual Thaw Brawl will break a number of AELMT records right out of the gate. Drivers will race 50-laps for a chance at $5,000 during the Friday night portion of the show. Then, on Saturday, crews will prepare for an AELMT record 75-lap distance and a shot at $15,000 to win in the weekend finale. The event is also likely to break an AELMT single event entry record.
The AEmods will be making their first ever trip to LaSalle Speedway during the 8th Annual Thaw Brawl event. Drivers will battle for $1,200 during Friday night’s action, before gearing up for a $1,500 pay-day on Saturday.
LaSalle Speedway has scheduled a pair of pre-Thaw Brawl open practice sessions for March 22nd and 28nd, both from 4-10 p.m.
