Lake Odessa, MI (Thursday, September 12, 2019) - An exciting event is on tap for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) this weekend when they make a return trip to Hartford Speedway for the Fall Special. This event, the final for Hartford Speedway in 2019, packs an increased importance as the season begins to come to an end and drivers try to find their way a top the Championship Points standings.
Defending AELMT Champion and current points leader, Brandon Thirlby comes into the event with a 41 point advantage over Travis Stemler and a 76 point advantage over Logan Arntz. Thirlby picked up the win in the Michigan Corn 40 at Hartford on June 21st, his only victory of the season. The Traverse City, Michigan native dominated the June event, surviving many late race restarts to collect the win. He’ll look to do that again and stretch his lead this Saturday.
For Stemler and Arntz, they are also looking for just their second win on the 2019 season and a performance to reel in Thirlby down the stretch. Over the past several events, all three drivers have finished near one another, keeping the battle one of the closest ever. Despite his 107 point disadvantage in the standings, many are still watching fourth place running, Rich Bell as he is still in contention.
Past American Ethanol Late Model Tour winners at Hartford include, Billy Moyer Jr. in June of 2016, J.R. Hotovy in July of 2016 and Brandon Thirlby in June of this year.
The Fall Special unravels on Saturday, September 14th at Hartford Speedway. Pit gates open at 3:00 p.m., with general admission gates opening at 5:00 p.m. The first American Ethanol Green Flag waves at 7:00 p.m. for American Ethanol Late Models and Modifieds, Stock Cars and Cyber Stocks.
